With the release of iPad 2, Apple has again continued its legacy. The device is something more powerful and feature packed but like always, we have to unlock it or in other words “jailbreak” it in order to unravel the beast that it beholds within. Why Jailbreak? Well, every Apple device comes with limited features , Jailbreaking allows you to customize your device in any way possible to boost performance and many other things like run third party applications that Apple has banned to hit Apple store. You can also transfer files between iPad, computer and other devices. You can customize standard wallpaper, springboards, icons and hide native iPad applications.
Jailbreak is of two types; Tethered Jailbreak and Untethered jailbreak. A tethered jailbreak means that you have to jailbreak your iPad every time you reboot. This type of jailbreak is hectic and thus not preferred usually. Untethered jailbreak is exactly opposite of tethered jailbreak, you just have to jailbreak your device once and enjoy the features forever. There is only one con to jailbreak, that is., if you need a repair and Apple finds that your device has been jailbroken, they won’t cover it through warranty.
Follow the steps to Jailbreak your iPad 2 4.3.1.
Step 1:
Create a new Pwnage folder on your desktop. Download RedSn0w 0.9.6RC9 for windows or RedSn0w 0.9.6RC9 for Mac and iOS 4.3.1 (Direct Download Links here) to the Pwnage folder.
Step 2:
Connect iPad 2 to computer and open iTunes. Choose your iPad 2 in the list, then press the “Option”, click “Restore”. Find out the file of 4.3.1 IPSW in Pwnage, and then click “choose”.
Step 3:
Open the Pwnage, then double click the Redsn0w, tap the “Browse” button.
Step 4:
Find out the fireware saved in Pwnage, open it. Wait for a moment.
Step 5:
When the Redsn0w preparing jailbreak for your iOS 4.3.1 device, check “install Cydia”. Then Enter the DFU mode.
Step 6:
You need to also hold power key and the Home button, over 9 seconds. Then loosen the power button, continue to hold Home button until Redsn0w detect equipment.
Step 7:
Wait for a moment and restore your iPad 2, You have untethered jailbroken your iPad 2 successfully.
