cloudapp file sharingI recently found this little app and I have totally fell in love with it. The CloudApp is one of the few things that make me feel proud to be a Mac owner. CloudApp is a very small and simple app that lets you use the cloud for sharing content with your friends on the fly. Once you download the CloudApp and install it on your make, you will get a small ‘cloud’ icon in the title bar just beside the clock. You can just drag the content you want to share with your friends into this cloud icon and it will be automatically uploaded to cl.ly servers and the link will be automatically placed into your clip-board. After that just use command+V to paste the link into an instant messenger client, emails, website etc.

CloudApp is so far the best tool I have found for sharing content with your friends. If you want to share a screenshot with a friend, just use the “Automatically Upload Screenshots” feature to upload screenshots as soon as you take them. After that, just use command+V to paste the link as it is automatically placed into your clipboard after you take the screenshot.

CloudApp has the ability to categorize your content based on the type of content. It can automatically places the uploads under “Documents”, Videos, Audio, Images and Others. With a free account, there is a limit of 10 uploads per day but I found it to be quite sufficient for my use. You can always move to the Pro account by paying a little fee of $5 a month or $45 for a year. Do you really need to pay that amount? Well, use the free account, check for yourself how cool the service is. If you use way too many uploads a day, it is good to upgrade to CloudApp Pro account and get unlimited everything.

cloudapp

With a Pro CloudApp account, there is no restrictions on file upload size or number of uploads you can make per day. You can use this service as if it were a part of your operating system or Mac. This app also has something called RainDrops. RainDrops are basically just add-ons for integrating CloudApp with other Mac apps. For example, you can use the the iPhoto RainDrop to integrate CloudApp into iPhote and then uploads the photos you want to share directly inside iPhoto. Pretty neat feature I would say.

Unfortunately there is no Windows or Linux version available at the moment. But hey, one more reason to switch to Mac – isn’t it? [CloudApp Download and Registration Link]
